USDA to Announce Grants to Enhance Recreational Public Access on Private Farm, Ranch and Forest Lands
WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2015 – Today, Monday, August 17, USDA Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment Robert Bonnie will announce grants to state agencies to improve and increase wildlife habitat and public access for wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities on privately-owned and operated farm, ranch and private forest lands. The selected state governments will encourage owners and operators of privately held farm, ranch or forest land in their respective states to voluntarily open their land for hunting, fishing and other wildlife-dependent recreation and to improve fish and wildlife habitat on that land. Joining Under Secretary Bonnie on the call will be Whit Fosburgh, President and CEO of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and Ron Regan, Executive Director of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
